Equipment:

You need to provide your own tennis racket for this course.
If you are a beginner it is recommended that you attempt to borrow one from a friend or buy one used.
The instructors have a few loaners available on a first come first serve basis.

Elementary:

This class will provide instruction and drill in techniques of the forehand drive, the backhand drive and the serve. Instruction on volleys, lobs and smashes will be at the discretion of the instructor. Students will learn the basic rules, elementary court strategy and tactics for doubles and possibly singles (depending upon the class size), and tennis customs, courtesies and etiquette.

Low Intermediate:

This course is for students who have had elementary instruction but have played very little since. It is also for others who know the general idea of strokes, tactics, and strategy but have played too little to be able to apply their strokes to play properly. The class covers strokes, rules, etiquette, and tactics for singles and doubles.

Intermediate:

In this class, students will review the techniques of the forehand and backhand drives and volleys, varieties of serves, lobs and smashes. Court strategies for singles and doubles will be further developed and students will incorporate the use of spin on all shots for control and variety.

High Intermediate:

Students will review the fundamental strokes and shots with emphasis on provisions for individual differences and preferences while emphasizing mechanically sound techniques. During class, players will practice in using a variety of game plans and in playing against those plans. Drills will cover five basic play situations: serving, returning serve, baseline rallies, going to the net and playing the net, and playing against the net player. Competition will be provided in the form of "play for practices".
